Q: Which bookkeeping software does Ledgerscope support?
A: Ledgerscope currently extracts transaction data from Sage (version 2008 and later) and QuickBooks (version 2008 and later) files. We will be adding support for other bookkeeping software, including the most popular online services such as Kashflow and Xero, in the coming months.

Q: What do I need to use Ledgerscope?
A: Ledgerscope needs Microsoft Silverlight to function properly. Silverlight allows us to provide the same rich experience to all of our users no matter what operating system or browser they use. If your computer has an up to date version of Windows you may already have Silverlight installed. If not, or if you use an Apple Mac, please visit http://www.microsoft.com/getsilverlight/ to install it, it only takes a couple of minutes.
The Ledgerscope Extractor (the application that collects data from Sage and QuickBooks) requires version 3.5 SP1 of the Microsoft .NET framework. This comes pre-installed with Windows 7 and will automatically be installed on Windows Vista and Windows XP if you have automatic updates enabled. Q: How much does Ledgerscope cost?
A: We wanted to make this simple. There's no charge for registering with Ledgerscope and setting up an account. You then buy pay-as-you go credits to process your jobs. A 'job' is a year end accounts exercise for one of your clients and costs 1 credit to process. The standard cost per credit is £50, but this is currently discounted to just £30 per credit. Different discounts are also available for buying bundles of credits.

Q: How secure is Ledgerscope?

All access to Ledgerscope takes place over SSL connections (which is the same technology that online banking uses) and access to the data is restricted to individual practices and key employees. As long as you keep your username and password safe then your data will be secure.

Q: My practice uses a hosted environment, can I still use Ledgerscope?
A: If you are running as part of a hosted service then Ledgerscope can either be run on your computer or within the hosted service. The extractor application will need to be run on the hosted service.

Q: What final accounts production formats does Ledgerscope export to?
A: Currently, we produce a CSV (notepad or Excel) file in the format expected by IRIS. We will be adding formats for the other popular accounts production software shortly. You can tell us here which formats you would like to see.
